The ONLY thing I disagree with is the terminology “breaking down the sub”. While I understand what you’re trying to convey here, the mental image from the words is not anything I associate with BDSM or a power exchange relationship. Most people have been broken down enough just by life. In my opinion a D/s power exchange enhances the sub by helping her/him overcome those episodes where they HAVE been broken down and guides them to a higher place within themselves. When I think of “breaking someone down” I think of brainwashing, cults and the like…not D/s. I can see the value of helping someone to lose their doubts, fears and inhibitions…but ultimately that work is done by the sub (in this scenario), with the Dominant as her support and guide to help her stay on track and focused on her goals.

I have never been in the military so I’m not qualified to say whether or not it is similar to a power exchange relationship. I can see, from your post that there are SOME similarities, but (thank the gods) the methods are different!!
