So did you notice the news from Mo’Nique? If you aren’t familiar with her, she is an African American actress who happened to win Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress this year. But that’s not why I’m talking about her.

On March 3rd, Mo’Nique stated publicly that she advocates an open marriage. Yes, she came out and said that if her husband Sid were to have sex outside of their marriage it was ok. Whether he has or not was unclear. And she did claim that she has only had sex with her husband.

Now that may not be an admission of swinging. In fact it may not be even a reality. But it is yet another step forward in the connection of what has long been the alternative lifestyles to the mainstream. Though this is a big one.

In fact the article that I found this admission in also had a poll about open marriages. 18% of those that responded thought an open marriage was critical to the long-term success of the relationship. That’s almost 1-in-5.

I just find it interesting. There is Lady Gaga remaining hugely popular as she embraces multiple fetishes and comments on her submissive nature. There is the ever popular Sock Monkey commercial driving all the Furries crazy with envy. Now Mo’Nique and open marriage. Am I jumping the gun, or is Hollywood slowly integrating the alternative lifestyles into the everyday norm?

Obviously this is not an overnight thing, if they are actively trying to do this. But just the mere comments and visuals says that we are not that far away from open displays of fetishes and lifestyles beyond The Village, San Fransisco, and Halloween.

Who knew Mo’Nique would be the one paving the way for us all.

Mention the word swinger in America and, unless the listener is into independant films, you will get strange looks (with occasionally a smirk and knowing wink). Such is the reaction in our repressed society. But if you happen to be in Vienna, things are a bit different.

The Element6 club recently became the home of, and part of, an art exhibit. Yes, art patrons are able to visit the club and see Klimt’s “Beethoven Frieze” from 1902, among other art at their club. The thing is this is during the day. The members of the club show up at night, well after the art exhibit is closed.

The point of the exhibit, by Swiss artist Christoph Buechel, is to challenge the norms of Vienna.

In the framework of this exhibition at the Secession, each individual can test for himself or herself whether this opens up new dimensions for his or her own sexuality.

Now can you imagine in America something like this happening? I’m not sure what would be the bigger draw, the club or the art exhibit. I am sure it would be quite the experience though. The looks on the art partons visitors as they pass beds, a bar, and a sauna must be priceless.

I want to thank everyone that showed up to the party on the 20th. It was a great time had by all. I think the last guest left at 4am. And the time just flew by.

I am glad that all of our newbies were having fun and learning so much. They got involved and were beaming with delight in no time.

I want to point out the great job done by angelpassion4u. She did a great job of organizing the other subs working the party. She kept them on their toes as they greeted everyone and made sure that drinks and food were available while keeping things tidy. All the while she was entertaining and mingling with the guests as a proper hostess. I knew she would make me proud, as she did.

It was a great mix of Doms and subs, newbies and experienced. A gathering that had everyone smiling, and more than a few nice red asses.

The next party in March should also have a great presentation. There will be a demonstration of wax that should be a nice boon to all, something for the subs to drool for and the Doms to pick up a few new ideas from.

I look forward to seeing everyone back and enjoying themselves again soon.
